McCoy offers world-class expertise in Tensile Membrane Architecture to Indian clients through global alliances that have initiated to change the face of our cityscapes forever. Seemingly impossible structures using traditional building materials have started to become a reality in membrane architecture.
McCoy’s Tensile Membrane architecture offers the potential to create spaces that are aesthetically pleasing and complement the natural environment.
Here at McCoy Architectural Systems, we have been at the forefront of bringing tensile membrane architecture to life. Merging world-class expertise and finest resources from around the world, we specialize in both, bespoke design-and-build applications as well as pre-designed and engineered ‘off-the-shelf’ structures.
Tensile Membrane structures are a striking and exciting new-age method of construction. The fabric possesses a unique ability to allow curvature, translucency and the capability to light both, internal as well as external spaces stunningly. Tensile Membrane Structures are characterized by having a rather small mass relative to the applied load, which is determined through an optimization process.
The primary types of the structures include Synclastic (frame supported), Anticlastic (cable net), Cable-and-strut (tensegrity), Air-supported and Air-inflated. Materials like PCV/ Polyester, PTFE/ Glass Fiber coated fabrics, uncoated woven PTFE fabrics, ETFE membranes and mesh fabrics are available in Tensile Membrane.
Tensile Membrane are offered in various forms:
Synclastic
Anti Clastic
Pneumatic / Air Inflated
The edges of the Structures are either:
Catenary Edge
Fixed Edge
There are various materials used in Tensile Membrane
PVC Polyester
Glass Silicone
PTFE
ETFE
Additionally, the basic structure is made up tubular steel or galvanized iron cables.
